I was ogling this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/174388947252) beautiful Cherubim, when I noticed the following:

We are unable to ship to the US and Africa due to the effects of viruses.
For other countries, please contact us before purchase.

Really?!

Alex's Cycle ships from Japan to the US by DHL, for which it charges more than Alex's' typical shipping costs. Japan Post won't ship to the US.

Canada would not ship to Brasil a month ago. I doubt it got any better.

PS: I would buy that frame shipping or not.

not sure how putting something on an airplane would affect domestic shipping from X country.. DHL has added a delay, but Japan to US appears to be open, unless I'm reading the link wrong, so... https://www.simplydhl.com/covid-19updates

Guessing 'Country of Origin' has it legally locked down for it;s countries Vendors. Or the US as likely black listed 'Country of Origin' during CV-19/pandemic. If I am guessing, and I am...

Thinking about returns alone is way deeper in problematic potential, etc etc...

Probably due to uncertainty in shipping ... sellers
don’t want goods stuck in transit and deal with customers losing their minds (see any number of PL threads).

Cherubim (Shinichi Konno) used his uncles Yoshi Konno's (3Rensho) lugs to make this bike. He still makes R-2's. The lugs just aren't as fancy.

This is a nice bike.

If you really want, you can find a shipping company which provides you a local Japanese address then forwards it on to you in US.

I have a friend in Japan who does the opposite when he can only ship things in the US to a US address , then forward it on to Japan..
