Basic, cheap GPS speedo?

I'm still using Cateye Strada Slim for real time data and I usually just carry my phone to record the rides. However, I don't want to have my phone on me for races - especially MTD and CX where occasional crashes are almost a certainty. So, I'd like to get a basic GPS unit for races

Here's what I'd like:

Cheap
Small
Displays: Speed, clock, cadence (optional).
Self sufficient. IE doesn't need to be continually linked to a phone to work.
Uploads to the apps EG Strava, etc.
Ant+ over Bluetooth but not a deal-braker.

Essentially I want a Strada that talks to satellites.

Recommendations?

Lezyne offers some really affordable basic units like the Mini GPS ($100).

I think they all have units for this that are minimal recorders.

You may still want a speed sensor.. for the use cases you're talking about GPS does the worst job of tracking speed & distance & correct path. The speed sensor can really help it.

There's very little "minimal" about wanting to upload to Strava and such.

Talking to a phone & uploading stuff to the internet is about the most complex part of these devices.

I've been using the lezyne mini for the past 3 years. It works well for being so small. It also can connect to various sensors and easily syncs to strava and it's own app via my samsung phone.

Only issue is firmware updates, it is really sensitive to USB cable type for downloads.
