Trying to beat Grant to the punch, tell me what you are riding for components. Thanks.

For you guys with multiple bikes (which is most of you), put down the group that is on the majority of your bikes.

Only Campy (except one bike with Mavic components).

All Shimano except for the Rex. I suppose this means I really need two more bikes so I can have one with SRAM and another with the new Campy.

Both but more Campy than Shimano. I like the brake modulation feel better with the smaller Campy shifters and will probably be sticking with Campy in the future.

My main bike has Campy, Shimano, Sugino, TA, Paul, SRAM, and IRD, and that's just for components that are typically sold as part of a group.

I wouldn't be caught dead riding anything but campy-equipped steel Pegorettis with tubulars.

Actually I ride a mix of components... on the same bike. My CIII has Ultegra shifters and brakes, DA hubs and R der., Phil BB, Veloce crank with Stronglight chainrings, Centaur F der., and sram chain and cassette. :)

You need a mixte category, plus you left out the French.

Chris Kvale, Campy, Shimano, TA
Stan Pike, Suntour, Campy, Shimano, Phil, Sugino
Crescent, Campy, Surly, EAI (fixed)

I used to have on my fixed-gear one Shimano brake lever, and one Campagnolo brake lever. The Campagnolo was the dummy lever, the Shimano was the functional one.

Now they're both Shimano (old 105 SLR).

Pegoretti has Record with a Centaur UT crankset.
Gunnar Crosshairs commuter has alloy Chorus, mid 90's DA crankset, avid brakes.

MTB has SRAM XO

Campy.
I don't like the brifters by Shimano, nor their aesthetics, but their is wide agreement that both function well. A minor confession; I did ride Shimano in my dark past.

Actually its much closer than Samster's fight, shimano makes many more items than campy; fishing gear, snowboards, golf equipment, electronic inst., etc.... what was that saying ... "jack of all trades, master of none"

shimano still wins in sheer numbers, of course, having the most products sold doesnt make you the best - which is why we all dont ride Treks or Huffy

come to think of it, out of five road bikes, 2 are mostly shimano (but one of those is the beater), colnago is campy SR, cinelli is mavic SSC, paramount is suntour SP. Ok so more shimano than campy, but most are nonshimano, and all get ridden and loved about equally, and I'd buy more bikes if the attic wasn't full.

I don't get into all this s vs. c stuff, it's not a two-party system.

'oh, the humanity'Yes, Terry, they are on the Paramount. For traditional brake levers and single-pivot brakes, I prefer 105 SLR. Sheldon Brown (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_sa-o.html#slr) likes them too.

I replaced the original TIG-welded steel stem with a Nitto Pearl, and the handlebars are now Nitto 115. Of course the bike still has the Campy hubs and Sugino crank. It's my favorite of all my bikes. One of these years I'll reluctantly part with it for a while to send it to Waterford for a respray and decals.

As others have said, my main ride (CSI) is a mixture of various things:
DA hubs, casette
Ultegra rear der, brifters, brakes
Campy chorus cranks, f der, BB
Stronglight headset
ITM seatpost

My toy bike - Coppi Campionissimo - is all Campy C-record except first generation Chorus brakes and cranks and a Regina Extra freewheel. I just couldn't bring myself to put anything Japanese on that bike.

Obtuse really is my hero. Campy and Shimano are both excellent. The whole 'conflict' bores me.

I ride Shimano, but for only one reason - I prefer the hoods to Campy's. This was true five years back, when I rode Chorus and Ultegra-equipped bikes back-to-back. The flippin' Campy thumb buttons were right where I wanted to drape my thumbs. No sale. I liked my position on the Ultegra hoods, and when the 10-speed stuff came out, I liked the new hoods even more.

As far as their performance, they're different but equal. The Campy 'mechanical' action and the softer Shimano are equally appealing. Just different.

And I'm really, really satisfied with Ultegra. I can't get too excited about spending $500 more for Dura-Ace to save a 1/2 pound. I'd rather spend that money on wheels. Or a better frame...

Personally, I get more excited by saddles, bars, and wheels than by component groups.

Couldn"t agree more.

Have both... prefer Campagnolo. Although with the 10 spd groups (especially if you're cheap like me and trying to get by without the ultra narrow chain) it's awfully darn close. For triples, the Campy stuff trashes ShimaNO.

Have twice as many bikes with Tullio's stuff.

This year I put a Legend on my Shimano group and I really like the way the frame holds the components so securely. I think the Legend just works better than other frames do, the bottom bracket threads are perfect and the DA crank spins really well in the Legend. The brake bridge is so much better than brake bridges on other bikes I've tried. It helps the brakes really grab that rim when applied. I even think the paint is more paintier than other paints on other bikes. It really shines when you buff it up and complements the DA finish like no other bike possibly could! And the decals, they're more aero than other bike's decals so it you can ride at least 1-2 gears higher than you can on other high end bikes which have non aero decals.

Basically, friends don't let friends ride other frames on their Shimano groups.

Whenever I can help it, I ride Shimano. I've got a couple of Campy-equipped bikes, but they are not my preference.
