simple and possibly dumb question:

When you buy a new UT crank, does it come with the BB? ie., does the price of the crankset include the BB? Does Centaur come in carbon for 2007?

Thanks for your reply,
Darren

The 2007 Campagnolo cranks all come with the UT bottom Bracket. That is the same BB as Record for all ranges. The Centaur only has aluminum crank arms, not carbon. But it may have a choice of black or silver.

I have it and it is very cool.- Jon

BB is seperate, so you can choose between Engish or Italian threads.
Centaur is only alloy. I think Campy had a hard time making three
different levels of carbon cranks at 3 different prices. They likely
all cost about the same to make, so if the Centaur crank in carbon isn't
really cheaper than chorus, not many people bought it.

Just to be clear, yes the cups are the same between the models
of Ultra Torque cranks..... but if you go to the store, and buy a
crankset, the cups are not included in the box. It's a seperate
purchase. (i think that's what the original question was)

I think Grant nailed it that Campy may have had a tough time deliniating between three levels.

The record crankset has hollow crankarms and the anti-friction coating

The chorus chrankset has a non-compressible center to the crankarm and no anti-friction coating

the centaur with an alloy crankarm looks like a good deal

To me the difference between the record and chorus feature wise is very small.
