you bet i've got a suggestion, have him build you a cross bike. CX bikes being so versatile you could ride on and off road and if you get the bug you could race it in the so-cal cx races. it would be a great solution for epic off road rides like Deerfiled.

Fly up to P-Town to pick it up and we'll take you out on a strada bianca ride and you can listen to the rocks pinging off the the bottom of the freshly painted tubes.

That bike is undeniably beautiful. I'm glad Zank finally posted it - I've been wanting to point it out, as I've been gawking at it on the vanilla website for days, but was afraid it was a forumite's new ride and didn't want to spoil the well-deserved hoopla. I love the burgundy/navy logo with stripes!

That post on the shoe site is just not cool ... particularly when it effects a business person.

I once ended up in a nightmare situation when a comment made by a radio host on a station on which we advertised was taken the wrong way by a group. We were blacklisted simply for our association with the station (even after we pulled our ads).

Atmo, I feel for you on this one. Hopefully the guilty party will come forward asap. If not, perhaps the shoe site can track the isp.

I am editing my comment on this thread in light of what has happened. No more attention need be brought to this.

Of course they freak out. They're weight weenies. Everything must be measured, dusted, and weighed. They're dry white toast with OCD. They're cycling's equivalent of "Monk."

http://www.ezthemes.com/previews/m/monk01.jpg

I should join just to keep them stirred up. Forums are a place to talk about one thing we have in common: bikes, and the many things we don't. They shouldn't be "meetings" following an agenda; this ain't a job. Discussion/conversation evolve. Otherwise it's boring. ATMO.

I disagree. Torx or allen heads would look too "industrial" on there. Phillips are more fitting with the designs of Sacha's bike but I think little polished brass or copper rivets would be far, far, better.

When I first started doing these badges (six years ago or so) I experimented with a bunch or different styles. the allen wrenches for such a tiny bolt were stripping out each time I put a badge on. I still have a bag of the allen bolts, that I am saving for Caulle's bike.

I'm not super pumped on the Torx look. The badge is Mod enough without the super techyness of a torx head.

sasha-
your bikes remind me of the great line of products produced by the frigidaire corporation of fort wayne indiana. perhaps one day "vanilla" can become the generic term for all fine bicycles regardless of brand among the aarp crown in the deep south. thank you for providing solutions for real life.

I'm having a hard time interpreting the tone & intent here but I get the feeling you're getting dangerously close to a throat punch and waking up peachless.

"No worries, you rock your bikes are art and ride like magic carpets and I sometimes just go out to the garage and stare at my vanilla."

Why are you punishing it? Storing your Vanilla in the garage is like storing your paintings in the outhouse.

Actually, for the last several weeks, it has been in the bedroom very close to a set of rollers.

Better?

In Canada, we use the "robertson" screw.

g

robertson trim screws rock.

years ago i put a roberston BIT through my thumb while
putting in baseboard. we would put the bit in a drywall gun,
spin the screw in reverse, burning a hole through the wood,
and then hit the forward button. voila... screw goes in without
having to countersink. just don't slip. that was a fun day.

So is it even worse if my Vanilla is not only sitting in my garage right now, but also *caked* with road salt? And nearly measurably thick in some areas?

Boy I hate this time of year sometimes ... dry eyes and a salty taste in my mouth from all the road salt. But ... but ... TOMORROW IS FEBRUARY!!! Spring is *just* around th corner woooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Coincidentally, after having my ego massaged here this morning, I flipped over to my email account and found this fan mail.

"Your bikes are very terrible
I restaure old bicycle in france
could you give me stickers small Vanillabicycle Usa for put on a frame ?
Thank you good days

I really want to use this as a quote on my site somewhere. Maybe a T shirt.

Having had some experience with foreign students I'd guess that Charly used an online translation for "bad", you know, like bada$$. JMHO ATMO

I'd buy the t-shirt however.

As a working chef, ATMO has it correct. Bragard is the tip-top in chef wear...and also in bike fabricator wear.

Yes, I'm still trying to think of a come back.........Jerk

Lets see, the last time the "Jerk" said mean things to you, it was that your bikes looked like a Chevy ice cream truck or something. You took a picture of yourself giving him the finger or the peace sign, I forgot which it was.
Maybe if you knew what he looked like it would be more easy?

the winter skids.

Hey, we're halfway through the cold stuff (Actually most of the first half wasn't half bad at that.) with just three months left until we start picking flowers from Sandy's front yard again. Can't decide which is the longest month to survive, February or March?

Un Ange En Danger

Quand Dieu créa l'homme
Tout était beau comme
Les yeux d'une nonne
Un beau matin d'automne
Puis Eve croqua la pomme
Donc s'additionnent
