Jamis Comet worth buying @$250 in local ad? comes with 18-spoke mavic cosmic wherlset plus orig Miche Race 707(?). plus it has a dura ace crankset. was thinking of keeping the mavic wheelset, swapping the bio-pace off daughters bike for the dura ace and re-sell. has Look carbon fork. idk.

Seems like a lot of hassle to gain a few parts and some cosmic wheels. But if you have the time and really want the wheels you should be able to resell the bike for close to what you payed for it.

yes, i think you are right. thanks for the dope slap! ; )
WAIT! is this a Dura Ace brakeset? as says extra brakeset, which is shimano Sora. plus Sora derailleurs. Crankset is dura ace, as mentioned. hmmm. 🤔

I'd worry about trying to flip it and not getting your money back.

That'd be a nice trainer bike, a backup when you slide on maintenance on your primary rig, or something to keep at your folks' place.

If it's a complete bike and is reideable as is (in other words the drivetrain and brakes work) and of course fits you, then yeah I think $250 for a backup/winter bike is worth it.

That Dura Ace crankset appears to have corrosion issues. Mostly cosmetic, just saying. I think you could probably get your money back out it after gleaning the parts you want. I would also grab that Thompson seat post, if you have something lesser to replace it with.

Can’t help but think how much that frame looks like it would just beat the hell of the rider. Looks crazy stiff with zero compliance.

Looks like that stem is a 1” threadless -17 stem. I’d be interested in the stem if if you buy the bike and part it out.

yes, i did see that, surface or pitting, idk. gave my daughter two of my bikes, the one she prefers is shimano 105 & was just going to upgrade. but i have a new frame coming, i think i will spend some $ on myself now! and yes, i was just going to swap parts and re-sell.

In today's market that would flip for 400-500 easy as a running bike.

Looks like the shifters are Sora/Tiagra meaning the bike had been RIDDEN and likely parts were replaced as needed. Plus that corrosion on the crank...

Still, I'd buy a bike like that for $200 all day long for a few of the choice bits. The rest would sell on eBay easily for your money back.

ah! like i said i am not familiar with that market. but i knew ppl here would be.
i checked the seller on FB, he did not look like a cyclist. im thinking someone owed him $$ and got the bike “dude you can get $250 easy for this.”
oh well....
