Just trying to mount new veloflex 28 masters. Proceeding to snake bite the tube twice, finally tossed out and threw an older/heavier one in.

Whats the magic of first install? Once on, tube changing is simple of course.

Then after that, decided to change my hoods (without removing cables) wife and I almost got a divorce but she did it....

I use the VAR tool on first install for tight tires

Give the Schwalbe three lever pack a try. Use two levers to fix the bead in place. Use the third lever to get the bead over the rim. Worked with a set of conti 5k tubeless tires that I couldn’t get over the rim with a bead https://www.schwalbetires.com/accessories/helpful_tools/tire_lever

Apparently, park tools has some right to the blue Schwalbe uses. Ha!

Leave the tires out in the sun for a bit or throw them in a laundry basket with a load of fresh-out-the-dryer towels.

I will try one of these. Not that it is too tight really, its the tire being flat as a pancake when initially installed, so tube doesn't fit in it cleanly. Perhaps one of these tools with more in the tube initially?

+1 for leaving them in the sun, then use your toughest tubes and wheels to mount them onto.... I pre stretch them so that they go onto my fancier carbon wheels without as much drama.

My fingers are sore as I type this....

Put a little air in the tube before installing it. Just enough to make the tube round. Then, after the first tire bead is on, push the tube entirely over the sidewall into the rim cavity. With just enough air to the give the tube some shape, it is easy to keep the tube completely inside the tire/rim when getting the 2nd bead on. If the tube is entireley withing the tire/rim cavity, it is difficult to pinch the the tube.

IMHO, I think the difficulty lies with the flatness of the tires... it needs to have a tube in it to round it out , bead to bead.

Guess I will buy some heavy duty tubes, mount then leave in shed for few days, before using my light tubes
