Ah, one of my favorite films and one of the best film scores ever (https://youtu.be/NBno8SG421I) (should put a SPOILER alert on that clip if anyone hasn’t seen the movie). So many great film scores...

Once Upon a Time in America
The Mission
Cinema Paradiso
The Untouchables

to name but a few.

A few years ago there was a performance in Brooklyn where he was conducting his songs - I would have loved to seen that.

RIP Ennio.. you gave a lot of beauty to this world.

Never learned to speak English and didn't visit America until 2007. And this was before the internet and Zoom.

Really sorry to hear that. I've been enjoying his music played by Yo-Yo Ma. Lovely music and beautifully played of course.

Epic is the proper word to use in describing that film. Just incredible.

I love the sound track too.

The music makes the movie even more epic. If you haven't seen it, it should be high on your list.

Yeah, the Yo Yo Ma CD of his soundtracks is really good, especially the first half of the tracks IMO. Some are just so hauntingly beautiful.

Ditto, there are a lot of really good movies out there but this would probably be my #1 pick.

What an incredible performance! "Awesome" doesn't begin to describe it well enough.

Great movie. Even better score.

Those Danish National Orchestra videos are AWESOME.

One thing I love about the Morricone music and the Spaghetti Westerns was that he would record the music before the relevant scenes were shot and then they would play the music on set to make the mood.

Also, John Zorn has a great record from back in the day of Morricone music -- thttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuA-Pu4ubeg -- this was actually how I learned about Ennio Morricone originally.

He really is responsible for cinematic music as an art form. Was truly unique in his ability to adapt the tools and mechanics of Opera and apply it too film in such an advantageous and transcending manner.

His employment of instrumentation... mixing classical, ethic cultural, electronic, and modern timbres is unparalleled.

What an incredible achievement.

Bravo Maestro!

Love this performance! I've been watching it at least weekly for a long time now.

It's got 50 MILLION views for a reason... in two and a half years.

What a prolific genius. He wrote memorable music for so many films that are forgotten today, e.g., Grand Slam, a heist film with an excellent cast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4CmDN4oV_M. I remember his score to The Sicilian Clan much more than the film itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwmdscZNTQU.

I love his sense of humor in scores like the one for Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OyP2fQRSzI. Great use of jew's harp, as in many of his scores.
