Is there any spot that breaks the $8/tube barrier for no-frills road tubes? My stash is finally approaching the threshold of "more patches than tubes," and I need to restock.

Just ordered some from Excel Sports.

PBK often has multi-packs at pretty steep discounts.
If you can live with max 23 and 42mm valve they currently have a 3 pack of Vittorias for $12.99

And if you need bigger, Michelins for $5.99 per https://www.probikekit.com/bicycle-inner-tubes/michelin-a1-airstop-road-inner-tube/10781090.html

If you don’t mind ordering from the UK, Merlin Cycles has a wide range starting at like $2.38 each and goes up from there!

Good Luck!

Good deal, anyone know of a similar pack for Race Lights? These Race are a bit heavier than needed for the roads I ride.

I bought a bunch of these about a month or two ago in various stem lengths and tube widths and so far they’ve held up well. Nothing fancy but they do the job.

Patch and release. I haven’t bought many tubes in quite a while. But I have bought patches and used them. It’s very satisfying to patch them well and reuse them.

When I do need to buy it’s a Excel Sports. Michelin with the threadless stems.

Appreciate the replies here! I'm a dedicated patcher-of-tubes, which is why it's been so long since I last bought any new tubes. There comes a time, however . . .

Thanks for the help!

I’ve had bad luck with Vittorias lately. I bought some 26/650b tubes. Both failed. Valves just popped out. Not ripped, but just popped out. I tried gluing them back on to no avail. Q Tubes, no issues.

I get mine from Amazon, like most everything else I buy.

First time using Excel Sports as well, and will probably be looking through their website again in the future.

Vredestein inner tubes are pre-talc'd and shrink-wrapped. Get them from my LBS.

Uh oh. Under what circumstances does there happen? Pulling the pump off? Or while riding?

I have a bunch of those tubes

Continental Race, EBay no packaging, priced depending on quantity. I think the seller is Trailthis.

The first was pulling the tube off of the rim. I was changing tires. I typically push the valve up and pull on the tube. As I pulled on the tube, it came off. Not a lot of resistance (not any more than normal). The second, I inspected the base of the valve where it’s glued in. The thing just popped out. Hoping it was just a bad batch. I have some Vittoria latex tubes and they have worked great.

Without going too far. Check LBS.
I know a local spot for me. $5 Bontrager standard presta tubes. Going up to $10 for light versions.

Besides that. I remember picking up a 20 pack of Vittoria extra light tubes off PBK ones for about $4/tube.

I've always had good luck with World Class Cycles: https://worldclasscycles.com/product-category/tubes/butyl-tubes/

I like tubes with smooth stems, and usually the only ones I can find are Michelin A1. On a recent order with xxcycle.com from France I picked up some for 2.49 euros each (700c, 52mm stem), which is less than a third of what my local shops charge.
