I've had this Tarmac for almost 2 years now and since I've owned it, I cannot get the seatpost clamp to sit flush. Which means the rubber cover can't sit flat either. I've taken it out many times and tried to re-install. I've pushed it down, I've done all that would make sense.

Am I missing something here? Whats the secret to getting this to lay flush? I know it is supposed to lay flush because I've see it flush on most other Tarmacs.

What method was used to install the wedge?

Try this:

-Remove seatpost and wedge
-Loosen wedge as much as possible without coming apart
-Feed the seatpost and wedge together into frame, using the downward motion of the seatpost to seat the wedge fully
-Tighten wedge

Have you messaged spesh about the issue? That would drive me crazy too, specially on how expensive these frames are.

In addition to the method above, you can also try:
1) put post in
2) apply light pressure to the post towards the back of the bike to ensure it’s sitting flush against the flat part of the frame
3) drop the loose wedge in then tighten

I’ve done this a few dozen times and the wedge always drops right in with one finger lightly pushing it down. If yours doesn’t, I’d have a LBS look at it and potentially start a warranty claim with Spesh.

I had a bike with that kind of wedge style seatpost clamp and didn't like it as it had a similar issue. It was flush for maybe 95% and the rest I ended up not caring about. Your case would drive me nuts though, kudos for living with it for 2 years. If wiggling more doesn't work I'd try a new wedge or time for the LBS.

you've removed the post and thoroughly cleaned post tube on the frame and post itself? you've completely dis-assembled the clamp assembly and have cleaned it? google "Tamac seat post" there's several vids on the binder bolt.

Well, I've done all the suggestions above. Still not working. May have to resort to taking to bike shop and have them try.
