I pulled the trigger on an OutRide but it was backordered. Days later I noticed that it is described as not compatible with carbon forks, so I cancelled my order.

For compatibility with carbon forks they suggest the ThruRide. Anyone know what the difference is, or why? I assume that it has something to do with the fork clamp, but they provide no details.

Before the pandemic, was looking for new rack to support Thru-Axle and also my QR road bikes. Basically the difference I could tell is Thru-Axle support on the ThruRide. I could not determine if ThruRide handles a QR axle and I gave up.

I think the comment on Carbon Forks is actual the axle, there is no reason a QR cares if carbon/steel/aluminum.

I have QR racks (old Thule and bought adapters that work with 12mm/15mm and sit on the QR clamp.

I asked Thule a few days ago, but haven't heard back. Between covid and a holiday weekend I don't expect to hear from them real soon, but maybe I'll be surprised.

If the ThruRide is the one for me I'd like to buy one now while REI has them on sale, plus I get my membership discount. It doesn't look like they carry the OutRide anymore, for whatever reason.
