Does anyone have a favorite brand they use? I just had a frame repainted and I need some for the drive side chainstay and probably for the head tube to protect from cable rub.

I got this set from eBay in the transparent color and they’ve held up well. Lots of shapes and sizes. Good value for the money.

I use Gorilla clear repair tape. It's probably on the light side, but seems to work well

I use racers tape, pretty easy and invisible when it's on, reasonably easy to take off.

I use headlight repair tape in clear available from your local car parts place. Inexpensive, flexible with a good adhesive that isn't affected by hot weather.

Crankskins makes a wide variety of frame protection products. I use their products on every new bike I get or refurb. https://crankskins.myshopify.com/collections/crankskins

3m clear bra x-pel in a roll and cut it yourself. Please, don’t put Gorilla tape on a bike frame, it’s bubbly and difficult to remove.

Crankskins makes great stuff, use them regularly. Also like the Shelter tape...its a bit more expensive but that is a reflection of it being more than just a vinyl tape. Available precut or in rolls...

+1 for Racer's Tape. Long lasting and nearly transparent.

I use 3M paint film that was leftover from the wrap on my Corvette.

I would bet that if you went by a shop that does paint film, they would give you enough scraps to do several bikes just for the asking.

did Wheels Mfg Co use to have some of this stuff?

get the real 3M stuff.

it's pretty stiff, so if you have any complex curves to protect just use a hair-dryer to soften the tape up and it'll follow all kinds of shapes and stay stuck down w/o lifting -- works a treat!

I just went through the same thing. I ended up buying XPEL. It’s what’s on my cars as well.

ISC Racers Tape. It smooths itself out so you don't need to worry about application. I have a roll from close to 10 years ago, and it still works like new.

I've got a raw black carbon frame...looks like the Crankskins come in clear matte. Anyone else have the racers tape, 3M, etc, on a matte frame?

I just applied Bike Armour to a new frame the other day. So no long term test, but it seems like the real deal. Plenty in the roll for maybe a few applications, or maybe two including the down tube which I don't cover.

I going to try the ISC Racers Tape.Let us know how you get along. One roll has more than enough to last dozens of bikes.
