OT: Breaking Away (Blu Ray)

One of my favorite movies.
Decided to watch it again, and although I have a saved showing on my DVR, decided to get a disc version with some extras (yeah, I know, everyone streams now, which is why I thought I’d get one cheap)
Well, wow, the Blu Ray is now a collectors item — $125+ for Used, almost $200 for a new copy.

Got a new widescreen DVD For $25, so I’m happy, but the price of the Blu Ray, wow!

definitely a classic!

i never got into blu ray. of course had a dvd player, which i mostly use to play cd's now, and was an early adopter of netflix streaming. never purchased a blu ray player or any media on that format. i think my kid's x-box will play them though?

anyway, yea, paying big bux for "collector" movies on a specific format is silly.

i'm sure i have a couple boxes of VHS favorites in an attic somewhere though!

I love having Blu Ray discs with all the extra behind the scenes, production footage. That stuff tends not to make it to streaming platforms or it's scattered around on Youtube or Vimeo in lower resolution and you have to piece it together.

A real favorite here as well. So, so many great scenes - from the father's reaction to Dave shaving his legs to him drafting the big rig on the interstate.

My favorite might be near the end when everyone is celebrating and Cyril (Daniel Stern) has no one with whom to share his joy.

I loved the movie as well. Surprisingly my cycling buddy and wife (they’re tandem riders) didn’t like it. I can’t fathom that.

Dennis Christopher was also an Olympic level runner. (Chariots of Fire)

My 2 cents on Blue-Ray, PUT A DECENT PROCESSOR in the players, costs very little!! All that data loading at the speed of molasses sux.
