Anybody using the Topeak combo torque wrench?
Looks like a nice simple wrench that goes to 12 Nm.

Wondering how robust it is though.

that looks like a ridiculously poor design for what is supposed to be a precision instrument.

there are at least 4 points to introduce slop into the whole thing and throw off the reading on the flimsy looking plastic scale. have you ever noticed how much tolerance there is in 1/4" bits? you think that plastic/composit case is going to hold perfect shape/interference fit over any length of time and use?

hard pass on that pos

(IMO)

as good as "visually measure the indentation the tool leaves on the fingers"

FWIW, I needed one for the build I'll be doing soon, so I just picked this one up as it was readily available, came with a case and bits, was NM specific, and was well priced:

I haven't done anything with it other than open it up and take a look. Seems surprisingly well made. I've got nothing to compare it to, or validate the calibration papers it came with.

I have a full size Foundation 1/4" Torque drive, but I bought this one today. Obviously cannot comment on it at this point, other than it has good reviews and it was on sale. I had been looking at it before.

This one will be easy to tote along if I think I may need to make any adjustments on the fly.

I have several torque wrenches that I've acquired over the years. 2 Snap on dial wrenches each with a different scale are my nicest models. Due to the size they're also a PITA for bicyclework so stay in the drawer.

I also have a 1/4 drive Harbor Freight click type that surprisingly works well. ESPECIALLY given the low cost. It looks like a good number of similar torque wrenches.

The one that I REALLY like though is the one that my family gave me for fathers day. It's one of the Fix it Sticks kits that comes with a T handle, torque wrench that fits the handle, and a bunch of bith that fit the torque wrench. The tolerance is tight making for easy and consistent work.

They can be had with preset torque keys or an indicator. I got the later and am happywith it. One thing to be aware of is that the scale is in inch pounds. What i did was to just make up a little cheat sheet and keep it in the zipper pouch. Hope this helps.

I used the original GuistaForza, but recently was gifted the GiustaForza Pro, the only difference being a ratcheting head. The GF went to BBDave. Any of the Effeto Mariposa tools will last a lifetime. Effeto Mariposa will recalibrate them, but says it’s not necessary for 5,000 “clicks.” I doubt I could get to 5,000 “clicks” in decades. These are beautiful tools and worth the expense if you keep tools for a long time.

I used the Topeak digital one, but I suspect that is made for them by one of the bigger torque wrench manufacturers
