Hey all, looking at a frame, and it says that it uses a disc brake 'apartment mount'.
What is that?? I can't find much reference to it online. Does a flat mount disc brake caliper work on it?

Thanks!!

That's a poor translation algorithm from British to American English. The break mount is flat mount. In Britain, they use the word flat to describe what we would call an apartment in America.

Way too much, and way too easy. But sorta explains why the references are on the UK sites to.

Lift, flats.. You'd think I'd have got that one solo being married to a Brit for 37 years. I guess I got her sufficiently apartment/elevator Americanized.

That is too funny.

I was going to make a bad attempt at humor in a post saying I had a condo mount, a friend had a co-op mount, but I had never heard of an apartment mount.

This kind of reminds me of, apparently, some early version of machine / computerized English to Chinese translation software called "Jinshan Kuaiyi" which was used to translate Chinese signs into English by much of the mainland Chinese population. Apparently the version that is widely used (and pirated) had the unfortunately tendency of translating the verb "to do" or "dried" into f-bombs...and given that most people using the software naturally didn't know English, that just went onto the signage as-translated..

Post up the link of this apartment mount disc brake if you have it.
Would be even funnier to see it.
