So, I stopped cycling in spandex for about 4 years after a few moves. Now, I have bikes taking up about 10% of my available floor space. This feels good.

But, covid's gotten me back on the bike in spandex. Getting back on the bike in spandex means digging through a box of old crap I've been meaning to throw out but ignored.

In that box, I discovered a tub of ASOS chamois cream. Chamois cream is necessary, but trips to stores are to be avoided, if possible.

So, the burning question is...

Does chamois cream expire?

(yes, this is a joke)

Not sure how to respond to your joke.

I doubt it expires. Probably some stuff goes out of solution first.

Assos claims a one year shelf life but I would take that with two grains of salt.

Two grains of salt might help, or at least kill some more bacteria. I use Endurance Shield (https://enduranceshield.com/products/chamois-creme?variant=433379469. A few years ago, they had an issue with their supplier and I found out they were going to run out. I hoarded a couple of containers. After they got their new supply this year, I started using one that I had previously opened. It was a little more sticky than the usual smooth stuff that they are known for, but it worked fine. This brand was designed for triathletes, one a woman. It had to pass the test of the swim, cycle and run without causing unpleasantness for women. Oh, and their sunscreen is the best I've used too. No gunk. Just smooth on, disappears and voila.

Well a few stinging responses.

I used some 10 year old AšMaster cream last year and my loins were soothed.

Perfect.

Thanks all for the laughs. Might just end up using the cream, after all.

Kind of on topic.

Many years ago, my wife and I did a bike tour in Ireland for our honeymoon. We stayed a couple of days in Dingle. We were sharing a pint or two with a local there and my wife asked him where they had the berries. He said they grow in the sheeps’ bums.
