I am looking at an Alba crankset that is sold with a 386EVO BB.
I assume I can use the CS with an M30 BB instead?

yeah. As long as its a praxis BB you are good. And by that I mean a BB that is made for 30mm/28mm crank (why did praxis have to go proprietary? they could have not stuck with 30mm like everyone else)

No kidding. One of the more annoying changes imo. Plus having Trek spec the m30 Alba on the new Crockett. So to use anything different, you've got to buy a new T47 BB NO MATTER WHAT

That kind of stuff drives me crazy. There is literally no benefit to the 30/28 mm step and really just a plot to sell you BBs.

And the proprietary tool.

At least the cranks look good and work well.

oh yeah, I forgot about the tool...

Yeah the crank looks great, works well and it is relatively cheap.

However I think I like the Easton EA90 better. No special tools needed, no special BB needed. Price is comparable. Weight too I think.
