650b rim brake rims

My Jonny Coast 650B rando is close and looking at a wheel build.
Cliffhangers or the rims from VO. ID is 25mm and 22.1. I will be running 42 tires.
I'm not spending the $$ for hed's.
Any experience with these two rims? Any other options for a wider rim?

Cliffhangers are 625g(!!). Do you need touring rims?

Old Potatoe just built a set of Quills for me. 21mm ID. Set up tubeless easy. Running 650b x 47 Byways. Much lighter than Cliffhangers.

Another vote for Velocity Quill..GREAT rim and made in Florida...

Another choice is Velocity A23..

That's crazy talk. Having a custom rando built and putting boat anchors on it (that likely won't play nice with your brakes - they are 30mm wide) is what the kids might call a fail.

Choose a good TC rim. Quill, Pacenti Brevet, even A23. There is probably old stock PL23s out there if you need to pinch the pennies. Does Sun still make a 650b CR-18? I'd choose any of those over a Cliffhanger.

The Quills look great, but at $140/rim comparable to the HEDS price wise. Really like the silver option. When it comes time to replace my PL23’s when they inevitably crack, the Quills will be a front runner along with the Brevets.

The A23 are still great too. The first really solid modern 650b rim. People were blowing them out about two years ago and could be had cheap. The Quill is direct descendant.
