Garmin Varia Saddle Mount, Anyone got a 3D printer?

I bought a couple of the Shapeways 3D printed Varia mounts for my wife. She hasn't used them yet, but they look pretty slick.

There are a lot of options there but there isn't one that mounts on the incline rail and still provide a vertical mount, as well as leave enough room to install a saddle bag.

The one from the link has the extended piece that works better with a saddle bag.

They have what I need but I haven’t done to grips with the price yet. I would also like to hear some comments on durability. I think it’s odd my 130 came with a tether and my varia didn’t. The varia cost more and it’s also not visible so I may not notice if it does come loose.

I use them for my Cycliq Fly 6CE on multiple bikes. I have the ICS one that snaps into Fizik saddles. I use a Garmin seatpost mount for the Varia. I can still fit a saddle bag. They are durable. I’ve never had my Fly6CE bounce off. But my Varia has never fallen off the Garmin seatpost mount either. I never use a tether.

It’s a regular Garmin quarter-turn mount. You shouldn’t have any issues. If anything, the Shapeway mounts are a harder plastic that the OEM Garmin mounts, in fact, the harder plastic makes it a pain and the ass to remove it from my Fizik saddles.

That’s actually what I’m afraid of. Wasn’t it stiffer mounts that lead to tabs breaking off garmin computers?

I would almost prefer an adaptor that uses the oem garmin insert.

The Varia is pretty small and doesn’t weigh much. The broken tabs were on devices like larger Edges so far as I know. I broke tabs on an edge on my MTB when I crashed and banged it with my knee. I can’t imagine doing that to a Varia on my road bike.

And Specialized saddles will (eventually, we're told) be able to be printed WYW (or thereabouts) in stores, but that's a looooooooooooong way off.

I posted this in another thread, but I had my neighbor 3D print up the Varia mount for me and I mounted it to my Specialized Power saddle. Been using them for a few months now. Works great and I'd recommend it. Some pics below. I have an extra mount i'd let go for cheap if anyone wants it. Just PM me.

I’m going to gave to sort out a rack adaptor that reuses the factory mount insert like above. It feels like the best way to do it.
