Trying to decide on whether to go with a Ti or Carbon seat post for my new Alliance build...Love to hear others thots as every time I'm about to pull the trigger on one, I pause and re-consider the other...wishy-washy...

Is the seatpost secured with a collar? If you choose the carbon post, turn the collar around 180 degrees(slot of collar facing opposite slot in frame..keeps that 'hole' rounder..means less cracks on carbon posts. For info...

is the frame raw ti or painted? what is the rest of the build?

i think both can look great, but IMO, if you get the Ti post, that kind of leads you down the road of a Ti stem also.

I have 2 titanium bikes. Both have titanium seatposts. Works for me.

Call me contrarian (and perhaps a bit anachronistic), but I vote aluminum.

I think matching the carbon seatpost with a carbon handlebar (say 3T or Zipp) can add some nice character and plays well with the tubing Ti frame. Add a carbon seatclamp and FD clamp while your at it! Will still be cheaper than a Ti stem and post?

Here's some good examples of how a bit of carbon and color can really create a stunning frame. The color stripes or panels could easily be achieved with chrome vinyl wrap rather than paint...

I'm a big fan of matching carbon seat post, stem and bars.

I have mostly carbon. But alloy posts with oval ID are under appreciated. An alloy WCS I have with thinner wall tube side than front/rear noticeably improves ride cush. As much as my Syntace P6 or CG-R in side to side swaps if we are talking more than wanting a Ti post aesthetic.

Always a nice aesthetic visually to my eye. ;)

While you're getting your bike built by Alliance, you should get a ti seatpost made by him, too. Even though my bike is steel, I got his ti post painted to match.

If 27.2 Ti, if larger CF unless you get a custom Bold, then Ti. F aesthetics, function over form.
