And don't tell me to search the archives.

I'm too lazy. They insulted me today and said I'd make a good manager so I figured I'd practice.

I run 'true' 700X25 tires with Ouzo Pros.

A 27mm Roly Poly should fit but stay away from melted tar. Or bubble gum. Or anything else that may jam under the fork crown - in other words, a 25mm tire is probably the SAFE limit.

It came to mind because of those great D2R2 pictures that were linked. 25s on the OPs, 13-26 in the back and I'm ready to go nuts.

I grew up on the top of a hill in Vermont and am used to riding up and down a dirt road on my old ten-speed, I have to figure 25s are about what 'racing tires' looked like back then.

37mm tires and a 26 in front would barely work for me :)

I run Specialized All-Purpose 28's in my Ouzo Pro and, they ride really nice. It won't take anything bigger though. Too bad. These 28s are a major improvement over the 23s that came on the bike.

If you are doing the long route, I might suggest a lower gear than 39 X 26. Also, smooth 25c's will be stretching the limit of control. Last year there was some loose surface stuff that would eat smooth 25c tires. Then again, I'm a bit fragile and fear a faceplant.

I don't know... when I rode the Highlander many I talked to said to I needed to get MTB gears or I'd die a lingering painful death. I put a 13-26 on and it was too low. I was passing people on the hills who were riding really low gears only because they had them, not because they needed them.

I'm used to riding road tires on packed dirt, so I figured a pair wth a little larger footprint would work fine if there's much gravel.

Hell, if I try it and it is stupid, I just have a long walk back to the car.

You'll have a great time! Just watch out for Archambo Road--it feels a LOT steeper than Bopple Hill, and the surface can be pretty darn loose...
