Hey yall, been teaching myself Sketchup over the last week since I bought a bunch of powertools in an effort to keep myself occupied during the pandemic. I took the opportunity (after building a pair of leopold benches (https://rogueengineer.com/diy-outdoor-bench-plans-with-back/) with my girlfriend last week) to build a bike rack for us and my other housemate. It came out pretty nicely so I thought I'd pass along the schematics and some photos in case anyone else wants to give it a shot

I was using the 2017 "Make" version of Sketchup here: https://help.sketchup.com/en/downloading-older-versions

It cost about $70 for the wood, and I used 2.5" deck screws for nearly everything. There are some 1.75" all-purpose screws for the plywood perimeter, but I may as well have used the deck screws.

It took me a chill 4 hours to assemble using a miter saw, circular saw, and an impact driver.

So awesome. You know, while its still fresh in your head, you should bang out like 5 more and throw them up on craigslist. This is perfect for us renters who cant drill holes in the walls or have horse hair insulation and no real easy way to find studs.

thanks dave, i have a friend asking to buy pre-cut wood so he can build it in his basement, i might do what you said haha.

i used a dewalt dws715 compound miter saw and a milwaukee corded sidewinder. i've got bosch stuff and ridgid stuff too because i tried to avoid brand fixation and focus on quality. main thing that allowed for that was getting corded for everything other than the drills and drivers, which i got ridgid for. (ridgid has lifetime replacement of used up batteries)
