My wife's company asked everyone to do a fitness challenge. My son wanted to summit Mt Tamalpias. So that was his goal. So we started out this morning around 9am. The 1:46:07 of riding time later we got to the top. Proud of this kid. Love to see the pride in his talk and walk after completing this feat. Shelter in place is tough on kids but it these wins, turning lemons into lemonade make it alright. The added bonus is how much he loves a sport/hobby that I enjoy. So happy to share it with him. Next up my daughter gonna do an ollie.

Love that kid. Just think of the money you save not having to buy shirts. Wait until he doesn't want to wear pants...

Well done.

Cool kid! I'm waiting for our 7yr old son to get into the sport. How old is your son?

Cool kid! I'm waiting for our 7yr old son to get into the sport. How old is your son?

He is 9. First time he climbed it he was 7. But this is only his second time. He was really into riding until this year. Basically, my daughter started riding and I think he felt it was no longer his special thing. Also, basketball and other sports started to compete. Plus, the headset on his bike was toasted which made riding not fun. So I replaced the headset and he decided to ride (SIP doesn't give too many options). I don't think you can get kids into something fun unless they think it is fun. You can provide opportunity and see if it happens. He is a kid that is competitive and like accomplishing things. My daughter takes a different tact. She more into the vibe and love of doing something.

Love it! I got to watch my 8yr old get doored tonight :)

No severe injuries - more scared, but boy doesn’t my little guy scream !!

So back to My Tam - I need to do that ride someday - looks amazing!

Nice ride, I'm sure the MTB routes are way better than the crowded roadie routes! Last time I was there, the bugs and flies made the final 'wall' no fun

My son is 4, and I'm sure he will be blasting right past me soon enough, enjoy this special time!

It sounds like you are definitely raising him right if this is what he wants to do.

Awesome! My 5 yr old has been riding since he was a bit less than 4. The other day we were at the bottom of Bernal Hill in SF. I told him that he might be able to make it up in a year or so. And about 45 minutes later....

Fantastic!!!

I think you now owe it to the kid to explain to him that there are 525,600 minutes in 1 standard calendar year...and that he shaved 525,555 minutes off of your prediction.

Maybe commemorate the event on that photo so that he will always have it as a reminder of the power of will...and of the incredible inaccuracies of his father's predictive powers. ;)

Great job, both you/kid and joosttx/kid. https://forums.thepaceline.net/images/icons/icon14.gif
