The makeup of the takeover group hasn't been made public, but it includes "a small group of experts in bicycle manufacturing, distribution, events and marketing sector, plus two renowned former professional riders" according to Poulaire.

My LBS does not like Mavic wheels. Proprietary standards, difficulty with sourcing parts. That said, I do think their wheels are nice, but I’ve avoided buying them to keep interactions civil with him. 🤪

It would be a real bummer for track cycling if they were to go out of business. Fingers crossed.

i have no doubt that mavic will live on.

any brand that has name recognition has value, and like the products or not, everyone who is even reasonably serious about cycling has heard of mavic.

who knows what the company will ultimately look like, but i dont see the brand going away any time soon.

I always thought it would be fun to own one of the neutral support bikes.

Ya can still find on of these.
Vecchio's has one..when mavic does, they will be a 'cassic'..I too think they will survive and a lot of their 'stuff' will be eliminated..like rims, I'll bet..lotsa wheels, ala Fulcrum...

Funny you mention that, saw one under a guy here in cville and wanted to chase him down and get the story, but he was riding the other direction.

Funny you both mention it, as there's a dude in New England who does the bike swap circuit and he's had an older Mavic neutral support bike for probably 4 years. It was beat and unrideable but worth what he was asking for the parts; I never pulled the trigger because it was to small for me to be worth redoing. Saw him before the 'rona set in and he had stripped it and sold the parts, but the frame was still for sale.

It's good it'll be in the hands of the French again. Hopefully they will bring it all back TO France.

Sad to say that I just heard that FSE was also going under.

And that there are some super-light carbon tubular wheels being clearanced.

EDIT: Seeing that there is a thread about this already!

Apparently they pop up on the euro Canyon site alongside outgoing Movistar/Katusha gear? Haven't seen it myself.

One was for sale on eBay last week. It was a Scott CR1 and with such an awesome title, I can't believe that no-one found it and bid on it

You're right, but I meant the header term "Bicycle" :)

No, I got that. That was just ridiculous. But his claiming it was a Neutral Support Bike, I highly doubt that one.

Don't they own Enve as well?

I don't much care for Mavic, but losing Enve would be bad.

Perhaps it's a common parent and it's just the Mavic division that's in trouble?

Amer Sports bought both Mavic and Enve. But kept Enve and sold off Mavic to whoever. That's where things got Mavic now. Amer pretty much ignored Mavic. It was a bastard child. Always out of product, CS sucked. Slow with new products. Lots of issues.

It might be nice if the same group could step in and save Time as well.

Only 250 employees? I'd have guessed more, though I suppose I've no real basis for guessing other than some perceived presence in the marketplace.
