He was funny. So was his wife Anne Meara, and they were a great comedy team.

Jerry Stiller passed away last night at age 92. Broadway, movie, and TV actor widely known for his recurring role as Frank Costanza in Seinfeld. Perhaps well known for 'Festivus, a festival for the rest of us' and for having been advised to say "Serenity Now" every time he got angry to keep his blood pressure down (it didn't work!...).

Oops - this is a dupe. Any way to combine these, Mods?

Stiller and Meara were one of the best comedy duos ever!

In the NYT obit, it stated that he was only in 30 episodes of Seinfeld but it seemed like much more than that -- his ranting father role seemed ever present in that series. Now that's an example of impactful acting!

This was precisely my thought.

His interpretation of that character was so good that it was essentially written into King of Queens for him to keep at it.

“You want a piece of me?”

There are some great outtakes of that scene, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus repeatedly breaking and him just holding it together like the total pro that he was.

Alas, he stopped short.

Feats of strength!!!

He always brought it all to his supporting characters. Zoolander and The Heartbreak Kid are two of my favorites outside of Seinfeld. The hottube scene in The Heartbreak Kid is hilarious!

He played Carrie's dad so well on King of Queens as well. His presence on screen will be missed.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned this role. It started out small and he got increasingly more air time as the series went on. He was great!!

Yes, Yes, Yes.

There was one episode where they went to a wedding - the choice was salmon or steak, but it was almost a year prior. He went off on how "inhumane" it was to make a choice months prior. When he filled out the card, months ago he wanted fish, now, the day of, he wants a steak. It was a freaking hoot.

He was good in “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three”. The original, not the terrible remake. His was not a big part but he could also do serious acting.
