Interesting stats too and prep that went into it.

I know someone that tried to Everest on zwift and almost did it. My understanding is that it's a standard challenge, so people must be attempting it.

Zwift has an achievement badge for vEveresting. I don't know if you get any bonus points for it, or just the personal satisfaction of having done it.

It's been a thing for awhile, both real and virtual. As you might expect, there are even rules...

if you ride alp du zwift you'll find at any time of the day a bunch of people attempting the everest challenge. Its quite motivating to see how they just keep trucking on when i'm tired 15 minutes into my workout!

If you everest several times in Zwift, it unlocks the "tron" bike in game.

with the caveat that one has to select the Everest challenge before the attempt, and not switch to another challenge after completing the initial Everest challenge

not true. i switched to the italy challenge and then back to the everest one and it preserved my status.

Could you clarify if you completed the Everest challenge before you switched to Italy?

If so, perhaps share how you are able to activate an already-completed challenge?

They may also have changed the rules on this...

It's been awhile ago for me now, but you can (or could) switch between the three challenges freely. You only gain progress on the challenge you currently have activated. So, flatter rides would be best for Italy/California, and hilly rides for Everest.

The status is preserved, but any vertical meters you gained while in the Italy challenge are not also credited to the 50,000 meters you need to get the tron bike.
