Hi All,
Question for you mechanics and tech savy guys. Can I have my steel PF30 tapped and threaded for T47?

In a word, yes.

https://bikerumor.com/2015/11/05/industry-launches-new-larger-threaded-t47-bottom-bracket-standard-say-goodbye-to-pressfit/

The result is a new standard called T47, for “Threaded 47”. It measures M47x1, meaning a 47mm outside-thread diameter with a 1mm thread pitch (25.4 tpi equivalent). That puts it very close to the 24 tpi (threads per inch) currently used on English threaded bottom brackets, so it’s essentially been proven on bicycles for many, many years. And that slightly finer thread pitch helps to manually hand tap and chase the threads, a handy feature for frame builders.

To work, it needs a 46mm diameter bottom bracket hole on your frame, which happens to be the same exact measurement of a PF30 BB shell. That’s not a coincidence. White Industries pushed hard to make it a universal and backward compatible design.

“You could literally take a metal PF30 frame and tap it, creating a frame for a threaded bottom bracket. Pretty cool, right?” says Drew Guldaliun, owner and builder of Engin Cycles.

Interesting but if they tap threads in one side why the system just dont go and tap threads in both sides? Asking dumb stuff because i do not know anything about those new BB that showed up in the last 10 years or so.

Still dont undertand was was wrong with the far superior italian BB :P that the had to some with new weird stuff :/

Correction, went to check out the T47 and looks like is threaded at both sides, then why the guy press one side and threads the other side in the video?

For those interested, I got ahold of a local and well respected builder.
Yes, you can tap and thread a PF30, however its expensive as the tooling is toast by the time the job is done. It's a one time deal.
The other option is to replace the bb all together with a T47, which then requires repaint.

Neither of these options is cost prohibitive, so I'm stuck with a steel PF30 shell wanting to run a Campy UT crank.
What's my best option for this? There are aftermarket BB's that partial thread into the other cup and those with out.

I'm leaning on the Kogel bearing BB. https://www.kogel.cc/collections/campagnolo-ceramic-bottom-brackets/products/pf30-ut-for-campagnolo-ultra-torque-cranks?variant=34776299530

Any thoughts on this for those of you that have done it? I hate creaks and I'm long past my Tom Boonen wanna be days so there's not much torque put on the cranks any more but I still hate creaks or noise of any kind on my bike.

I have an UT conversion from Praxis For PF30 bb: https://praxiscycles.com/product/conv-bb-campagnolo/

Set and forget - parts thread into each other to give one piece BB
