Hi all -

I normally ride Corsa G+ tyres in dry summer conditions. I like the way they ride. Plus they’re Italian :) But they are not as grippy and don’t seem as durable in wetter conditions or on less smooth roads. So I am trying to decide between Corsa Controls or GP 5000s as a wet weather/winter tyre.

Any experience/recommendations between the two?

Thanks

for wet weather, corsa controls, hands down winner.

I ride corsa control all the time as they seem to be marginally more durable than regular corsas. I could tell no difference, great tires.

I ride GP 5000 TL tires year round. They work. I don’t ride outside when there is ice or snow on the roads. The GP 5000s are great tire and are fine in wet conditions. I’ve always preferred Conti clinchers and whenever I try anything else, I end up back with a Conti. But I can’t stand the Conti all seasons or gator skins. They ride like crap IMO.

Thanks all. Will probably give the Controls a try but I suspect the Contis might last longer. Linking to another post on here at the moment, do any of you have any experience using the Controls for occasional use on a trainer? Any problems with durability (beyond the obvious that I should be using a trainer tyre...)?

I believe that the Corsa Controls are the successor to the Pave, my go to tire for wet roads. Not that it matters, they might be Italian in name, but the production facility for Vittoria tires is in Thailand.

And 'some' Continental tires are made in India..:)

I found the Corsa Controls to be like swiss cheese... way too fragile for London roads in the winter. Even GP5000 lack and I ride the 4Seasons. I really was in flat hell this winter since roads were wet from Oct till beginning of March.

@verticaldoug that has been my experience with the Corsa G+. Fantastic ride and road feel (love the sound of them too) but not enough grip for typical UK B roads and already showing wear on the sides of the tread (cracks all the way through). Downhill in the wet can be a somewhat scary ride

And those crazy FMB's are made in Francois' family room...
