I've been enjoying my 3Rensho on these solitary days (Serial# C29). Whose got one in their stable? Pics please! Always like seeing the different details/options on these frames.

Ray

I think in the past 15 years, I can only remember seeing two in my size for sale, one of which I really wish I'd splurged on ca. 2005-2006 and the other was priced too high. For anyone who cares, Cherubim is doing a run of 8 reproductions with the original parts and has teased about the possibility of possibly being able to do a few more in the future.

Here's a pair. The white bike is mine, the tandem isn't, but it's on eBay.

It drives me crazy when someone does this to a track bike to give it street cred; makes the bike almost unrideable.

Beautiful bike, you did a really nice job building up that frame. Enjoy!

PS> I like the fastback seatstays.

Not me. I sold mine years ago. Dumb on me, as I really didn't need the cash.

Somebody is enjoying it.

Not mine, but this one's a ringer.

Awesome! Thanks for the posts, guys. I managed to find another early aero 3Rensho. It'll need a restoration but could be a fun summer project.

My old pal Dave Hickey from RoadBike Review was a big fan of 3Rensho (and Japanese bikes in general)--and had a blog going for awhile--looks like not anymore--but there are a fair number of pictures:

It might fit me, so I'm an even bigger fan, though it sounds like this will not be for sale, which is probably good for me.

I had one and either my handling ability had not evolved to the proper place or- it was just too twitchy.
The second photo is of a bike that belonged to a forum member that lived nearby so we did some business and bike chat. His photo album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alexjries/sets/72157698579489314/with/43346902862/

Interesting how different bodies, frame sizes, and riding styles respond to certain bikes. I am on my 2d 3Rensho now, and have found both bikes to be great descenders, but remarkably, both are also incredibly stable hands-free. They feel like I could take a nap while riding hands-off.

Always loved the look of these, especially the lugs; but not sure I'd appreciate the steep geo and twitchy handling that some describe.

Anyone have close up photos of the katana-style 'webbed' lugs on their bikes? Chris Bishop has a set of these that I am seriously considering getting in the queue for a lugged build in the future. Paired with some diamante chainstays perhaps?

He used to have a fair number of bikes--I found a thread across the hall where he posted a few that he had, and I remember him posting some of his own finds on RBR. (Like a lot of folks on that forum, he moved on to a Facebook group, so I haven't seen him in print for a number of years.)

It's cool and a curse that we have such similar taste haha that's EXACTLY what I'd ask Chris to build for me. I love the those lugs and stays. Wonder if he's got double :)

I don't see the issue.. It's a NJS build. That's exactly how bikes raced on Keirin tracks in Japan looked.. Just missing the Yoshida Keirin white grips.

Street cred would be adding risers and a front Deep dish wheel or aerospoke.

I was not very specific. The whole NJS thing is pretty cool. I was referring to the saddle angle and stem selection. The saddle angle seems crazy to me; do they actually ride them that way? The stem makes sense if you're a dedicated sprinter/Keirin guy. I've just never saw anything remotely like this when riding on the track.

Yeah, that's how Keirin riders race in Japan. I've seen it in person when I went to Japan years ago. That's an actual Kashimax saddle (Butt hatchet) and 90 degree NJS Stem. They race extremely aggressive compared to US track racing.

Yea man, we def have a similar eye ;)

Knowing Chris, I wouldn't be surprised if he had another set. And if not, he of all people would know where to find one. I love that about his mission if you will, to keep these obscure tube and lugsets around for those of us who have a nostalgia for them.

About 10 years ago, when I was getting into road cycling more seriously, there was a 3rensho super record export with dura ace 7400 on Craigslist for $300. I was the second caller and wasn’t able to buy it. It’s the one that got away.

First time posting here and wanted to start the intro with this new/old bike build. Went for the retro-modern build for reliability and easy to source parts if needed. Still doing some minor adjustments with cockpit height. I typically slam my stems but this bike serves as my cruiser/club ride bike.

Specs:
3rensho Super Export 1983 I believe. Original owner purchased the frame from Yellow Jersey.
Full Chris King set up (hubs, bb, hs)
Cockpit/seat post from sim works
Shimano 105 R7000 groupset

Enjoy!

Now it needs some king iris cages. Nitto cages if you are feeling fancy.

Yes, as would be a Yamaguchi. Is that a Sticky with a carbon fork or something else? Regardless, please post more pictures. Also, in case anyone cares, Cherubim is doing a limited run of 3Rensho reproductions with original 3Rensho materials.

It’s actually a racer superleggera with a straight headtube and no aero fin things (very similar to the Uli) and WR Compositi 1 1/8 fork.

Anyone know this seller? Problem with UPS store drop off shipping via USPS. Seller is communicating, but no updated USPS tracking beyond shipping label created.

Seller has 100% feedback and quite a few nice bikes and frames listed.

I just hope I'm not being strung along by someone that's taken over an account. Worries me that tracking doesn't show that it was ever picked up. That said, seller is communicating. Trying to stay optimistic.
