I asked in another thread, thought I;d start a thread to lure more folk to chime in.

One of my fav steeds in a 585. being it is naked best opinion seems to be it is in fact a Standard due to the weave and the folks I have asked chiming in.

As far as non monocoque Time and Looks go, how do the ride characteristic compare?

No real idea on comparison. I've had both the Time VXRS and Look 595. Both had seat masts. These were roughly the same generation (2005-2006 or so).

I didn't own them at the same time.

I don't have any remembrance of how the Look felt riding. The VXRS is and was an all time favorite of mine. So there's that.

I have both a Look 585 Ultimate and a Time VXR, as well as a Colnago C-50. I have written about this a couple of times and you can see the links below...

In summary, the Time VXR is my favorite ride of these three lugged carbon bikes. I have now owned these bikes for several years, and I really do like them all...just wish the Time fit me better.

Time ZXRS
Look KG86
Look 695

only kept the KG86.. Nothing stood out for me on the other 2..although I did ride the 695 for ~2 years. Which is pretty good for me.

I've had a VX-Pro (with fluidride), a 595 Proteam, a 595 Ultra, and a 585 Optimum. The Time was the smoothest, but my 595s cleared 28s so they were stiffer in frame but softer at the wheels. The 585 and VX were very close tho, and at the time had the two best forks on the market.

I had a look KG481sl lugged carbon. It was probably the best riding and handling bike I’ve ever had, but the seat tube cracked, the seatpost binder and diameter situation was annoying, and it had aluminum lugs so I never fully trusted it.

To me the 585 Ticks the most important boxes. Threaded BB, external cables, 27.2 seat post. Light and plenty stiff in size small.
The most important to me are fit and ride quality. They are the best I have ridden.I have multiple 585's

Thanks for those links Keith. Save me from the myriad searching no doubt would have netted...

Your summation of the VXR mirrors closely my sentiment on the Addict LTD I had for 5 seasons. Size was not perfect, but with bigger the faster front ends is something I love. Neutral and fast is my fav.

I just bought a zero offset topper fir the LTD to get my setback without hanging the saddle to the edge of the rails, and short bars and stem. The little extra front center and WB also worked in a good direction for me rather than the other way. Also like you longer femurs. And I have huge feet, so front center that does not slow steering down is also alright by me.
