I'm currently keeping my bikes indoors in my home study. Let's just say my wife is less than thrilled, so I'm looking for ideas and examples of nice ways to store a bike or two in the study. Something that looks like a display would be great.

I've seen a few examples of really high end bike storage furniture at a bike shop online that looks great but it's thousands of dollars. I'm also not really interested in racks that have contact with the frame or hanging bikes by the wheels.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with a set up that could work for my situation. I'm pretty sure I've seen examples and threads on this in the past but my searches aren't yielding anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

These wall anchors for pedals are great as they don’t distract from the bikes. They’re also cheap, so if you don’t like them, oh well. Depending on the center of balance of your bike, they come with a little metal shelf on which to rest a wheel.

That's a simple and great idea!

I was thinking either something the tires could rest on and bike lean towards the wall. Or, bolt work-stand clamps to the wall to hold by seatpost.

This is way better and less expensive.

REI dividend or 20% off coupon. I have this and it can hold up to 4 bikes (added 2 on the back side). I'm not sure "elegant", but it's a way to hold bikes inside a house.

He wants no frame contact or hang by wheel. That kinda limits things...

yeah, hang by bars? pedal?

I did a wheel stand for each wheel as a display using (2) tool storage racks from lowes for 5 bucks each for my old TT bike.I just bent them out to hug the wheel a bit. Worked great, but was not secure and didn't save space as it suck out from the wall a bit.

This is a good idea as well, but I'm sold on the pedal catch hanger for the OP's solution.

If you have some basic tools you can build a shelf like this in a few hours. It is very simple to make a box and add some legs.

The other solution that I did was some IKEA picture ledges and a Velcro strap to wrap around the frame.

Thanks for this link. I really appreciate it.

The example from Elefantino with the pedal hook was one I remember seeing and I think could work well for me. Just couldn’t find it my searching.

Thanks! That looks really nice. I’m definitely not capable of building something but I think I could potentially find a similar piece of furniture and tailor it for this purpose.

This is certainly understandable, but I think it's important here to recognize that in any healthy relationship, boundaries should be respected. Perhaps you can sit down and kindly explain to your wife the concept of the boundary program as it pertains to bicycles.

I always wonder, how well do hooks play w/ modern day pointy aero rims?

I would get this one. Delta Michelangelo gravity rack.
