Just curious, all else being equal (diameter, length, carbon tensile strength, exposed length, tire pressure), how does the thickness of a carbon seatpost wall affect comfort?

For the same diameter, thicker sidewall means a greater moment of inertia; hence more resistance to bending / torsion. Not sure if one can feel the difference in practice however, since there is more to seatpost comfort than just wall thickness.

The most comfortable seatpost I have, a Syntace P6 Hiflex, has substantial wall thickness perpendicular to the pedaling axis, but not so much in the opposite direction, presumably to promote bending. Seems to work quite well.

Better riding posts are thinner walls sides, thicker front/back.

Ones I have that fit this type of construction are Thompsons, an alloy WCS Ritchey, and a Syntace P6.

One bike I shimmed a 27.2 to a Cannondale 25.4, the Ritchey and P6 seem to ride nicest.

Google the velonews article comparing the compliance of various seat posts. Very informative.
