Sad to see the passing of Kenny Rogers.

Have a friend and former co-worker who saw, and I am not making this up, more than 400 of his concerts. She'd fly all over the country. Always the best seats.

Been playing my old favorites all morning. My dad introduced me to Kenny's music as a kid, and we couldn't get enough of Reuben James, Coward of the Country, Ruby, Long arm of the Law, etc. Ultimately I like the ones where the main character has to recall something a loved one once told him, which seems to be all of his non-love songs.

Also realizing now, how good the First Edition band was.

To Kenny!

When I was a budding young musician in the 1970s I used to watch Kenny's musical variety TV show religiously. Far more rock'n'roll than what he eventually became reknown for...bunch o' long-haired hippies with their electric geetars! :)

Guy had a huge career. RIP

Kenny Roger's Roasters proceeded The Gambler in death nearly ten years ago. I still miss that chicken.

My wife and I fell in love to the stupid dumb Lucille song during an up and down drive through Vermont over a fourth of July weekend. No regrets.

Okay, now I can post. Didn't think this was appropriate as the 2nd post in the thread... still isn't. 1st thing I thought of when I saw this.

They killed Kenny!

His best songs had profound messages about things most people can relate to. BTW, his brother Leland was the head honcho at International Artists in Houston. IA’s main talent asset was the 13th Floor Elevators.
