Newbie question of the day - standard screw/bolt size/spec for frame braze ons?

Quickie question: is there a standard thread/size or other spec for bolts for things like rack mounts, bottle cages, etc etc? I assume I'd want stainless steel bolts? If so, where can I find those? (i.e Home Depot, bike store, etc)?

I usually buy from Mcmaster Carr, but Amazon has assortments for reasonable prices. The bolts from Mcmaster are coming from China now, so there's not much reason to go with them any more

Lots of options for the bolt head- Allen cap, button head with Phillips or small or large Allen, machine screw

My favorite place is Ace Hardware or independent hardware store in the section with all the plastic drawers
