First social distancing project complete

I've had the parts in the shop for too long, but finally turned the wrenches today and monstercrossed the ancient Paramount mtb.

Lost the Ringle/Ritchey flat bar cockpit in favor of a Nitto dirt drop setup. A Suntour 7s barcon now runs the XC-Pro transmission, and some gum-hooded drillium TRP levers complete the look.

i am most impressed by the color matched saddle!

nice project, drop bar rigid mtb's rule. this will not lose much compared to a modern "gravel bike". nicely put together. the XC-pro stuff is really good too. wish they still made it.

So nice. I would raise that stem a bit more when riding technical singletrac. That´s a great frame w/high end tubing and a unique fork; reduced rake, 1.5in like a yo eddy fork instead of the usual 1.75in of the era. NOt to mention.. it´s lugged.

What was the reason for the drive side chainstay bend?

It was meant to reduce chain slap. Instead it just moved to the bottom side.

Also...wish I could run the stem a touch higher, but that's all there is. Tops and hoods are great, drops admittedly a bit low for off-road.

Velo Orange has it too.That's an MT-11 on it now. I need a 1.125 quill and all the seriously high-risers seem to be 1". Not a fan of shims, but maybe I should be?
