I was standing a few feet from someone who had a similar thing happen last spring in my shop. I still have Orange Seal on the walls and ceiling. I hate tubeless.

When I set up tubeless for the first time on a new wheelset I think I’m gonna start putting an old sheet over the wheel. That doesn’t look fun

On second thought how does that happen? I always set the bead dry and undo the valve core and squirt sealant in. How could it blow off the rim after it’s seated?

Or did they just slosh a bunch of sealant in and try to set the bead at the same time?

I prefer a little bit of Mastic on my hands, personally.

Too high of a pressure, non-compatible rim and/or tire combo, etc. If you use an air compressor to seat the tire bead to the rim, you can go overboard and POSSIBLY damage the rim. So after you get it seated, remove the valve core, inject sealant, and re-inflate, the rim might be weakened already. If you're lucky, the tire will just blow off the rim and you'll get sealant everywhere. If you're unlucky, the rim fails at the joint and you'll have to replace it.
