Campagnolo Zonda C17 Road Clincher wheelset?

With a redesigned rim that takes its inspiration from a growing trend towards wider tyres, the Zonda C17 model is a truly modern, high performing alloy wheelset. In addition to the wider rim profile, there are differentiated front and rear rim heights, bringing you the ideal balance of comfort and performance.

Optimised Aluminium Rim

The wider C17 rim ensures a more efficient shape of the tyre, improving cornering grip and safety while reducing aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance. The new C17 rim has been structurally optimised to provide a surefooted grip on clincher tyres as well as an even better braking feel when compared with previous versions. The freehub spins silently as you enjoy time in the saddle
Technologies:
Rim Dynamic Balance™: The concept is simple and elegant: balance the weight of the gasket, with an item of similar weight placed on the exact opposite side. For top models, this is obtained by a special operation on the section of the rim opposite the rim joint.
Spoked Dynamic Balance™: For entry-level models, Dynamic Balance™ is obtained by using two oversized spokes in the section opposite the joint. The result is a wheel with perfectly balanced rotational dynamics.
MoMag™: A technology that offers several advantages to the structural integrity of the wheel as well as eliminating the need for rim tape. The name derives from “Mounting Magnet” system, shortened to MoMag™.

These are super wheels. One of the best bang-for-the-buck prebuilt wheels out there IMO. Highly recommended.

Like that you don't have to use a rim strip with these, too. The inside of the rim is smooth with no spoke holes.

I’ve had a set for a few years now, they’re solid and perform well. Would buy again.

I have a pair that I purchased late last year. I really like the wheels. Relatively light weight, stiff, handle and ride excellent. I run them with tubes. They were true when I received, and they are still true today, maybe 1000 miles on them. I would definitely purchase them again. Unfortunately, they have gone up in price. I am waiting to see them on sale. probikekitusa.com is where I purchased mine, and they are the lowest price I have seen recently.

The ultimate sleeper wheel set. These wheels have become favorites for me. Solid, smooth and comfortable. Very noticeable to me was their ability to dampen vibration. Don’t let the low price fool you.

zonda = sleeper for sure. 1500g for $370 at starbike..add another $500 to get to shamal.
i think it really depends on the OPs budget.

Best wheel set for the money you can buy. Maybe even if price was double.

I have a Campagnolo Zonda C17 Road Clincher wheelset on my R345 Lynskey. Works great. They had a good workout in Bentonville last year and performed as expected.

I'm a fatass and my Zondas are 11 years old.

I have two sets of Zondas, a few years old, so I suspect not C17 variant. they both came on used bikes and I've been very happy with both sets. I'd never really considered them before because I didn't like the aesthetics of the G3 spoke pattern but it has grown on me and I wouldn't hesitate to buy new if I was in the market.

One of my sets has the hidden spoke nipples which seems like it would be a pain in the butt when time for spoke replacement comes. I'm just burying me head in the sand on that for now.

I've got the C17 model on both of my bikes. Performance has been perfect. I'd buy again.

They are not tubeless ready.

No trouble installing Michelin Pro 4 or power endurance tires. Did't even use a tool.

As others have already said, these are fantastic wheels for the price. I purchased two sets of them at the end of 2019 from PBK for just under $300 a set. They're responsive, smooth, and roll really well.

The ONLY issue that I've had is the incredible level of effort that it takes to put tires on these stupid things. I've tried all of the tricks that have been mentioned for mounting tires on Campy wheels and even picked up one of the large Pedro levers for mounting tires. I still struggle with them! It's the same on a set of Eurus that I have as well. Ugh. I love the wheels but am so frustrated by the difficulty in mounting tires on them that I'm ready to move onto something else.

Best bang for the buck out there.

I have Zondas, Shamal Ultras, and Bora Ultras. The Zondas are everything the others are.

Buy 'em!

Echoing sentiment. Zondas are fantastic, a great wheel at a steal of a price.

Slight drift, but since others have mentioned Shamals, you might be price shopping the Zondas against higher zoot Campy options. I got an email yesterday from Texas Cyclesport advertising Shamal Ultras for $699. However, when I follow the link today they say $759.99: https://www.texascyclesport.com/campagnolo-shamal-ultra-limited-edition-wheelset-special-buy/

I have an earlier set of these (not C17) that I bought used and am very happy with them.

I have the generation right before the c17 and they are phenomenal for the price. Way better than decent. Do the wider ones ride differently?

I'll echo the other's Zonda's are great. I have around 25 or so bikes and one "upgrade" I usually do to all of them are lighter wheels. The Zonda's or their sister wheels, Fulcrum Racing 3's are my go to wheels. I have no preference between the two, just see which version I can get for the cheapest at that time. If you don't know, Campagnolo makes the Fulcrum wheels.

I have a lot of Campagnolo/Fulcrum wheels and find them very durable and trouble free.

The Zonda wheels are excellent for the money, weight, serviceability and what they are, a great all around wheelset. You can't go wrong with them.

Where is anyone seeing Zondas for ~$300? I’m having trouble finding online sellers that have them in stock, and haven’t seen them for less than $500 when I do find them.

Campy may be making changes for 2021, so sellers may be waiting for the new model, before buying more.

The equivalent Fulcrum racing 3 always seems to cost more.
