Sorry if this is a redundant question but I just want to get some clarification:

Could I use a pre-2015 (2013) Campy Chorus 11 Shifter with an 11speed athena rear derailleur?

Building a parts bin bike and just checking if I could use them. :)

Yes. I do and it is seamless.

I think mine may even be Record shifters. Lost track of some of the things I've acquired here.

No. They are all cross compatible.

maybe my setup is wrong but I didn't have crispy shifting as I did with Chorus-Chorus with Athena-Chorus combo. It was an external cable bike.

I'll give it a go. I just was afraid of damaging a part or something. Thanks all.

Nothing to 'damage'..the geometry, etc of the 2 ders are identical.

And in the FWIW department....believe those first edition 11's Athena RD's are also compatible with last generation 10's shifters (ones with new style hoods). I know my 10's Ultra shifters are. Would that also mean the pre 2015 higher level RD's are compatible with last 10's shifters? For those trying to make up a group from the "parts" bin.

They are...the only thing that doesn't work is 2009+ shifters(gumby shape) with 2008 and older rear ders..

Wow--missed this memo completely, and have been not pleased with exactly that combination! I have the infamous 2009 "soft shift" version Centaur 'gumbies" with the standard 2003-200x silver Centaur medium cage rear--and have not been happy with the shifting.

Time for a redo!

There are various 'fixes' for this..I have helped by running the inner wire around a portion of the fixing plate, rather than simply under it..increasing rear der travel per shift..kinda kludgy but it works better.

Best solution for you is any 10/11 rear der..where the der 'body'(where the name is) is 'outside' of the rivets rather than inside.

Many thanks--I see a few of those "bulls-eye" Veloces on the 'Bay so I may do that.

This might be cheaper than the 'Bay.

Thanks for that--but of course I would like to stay silver.

I did see this as an alternative (also in black on Merlin)--Centaur 11, but there seem to be a few around:
