Has anyone removed the logos off a Chris King headset? Is there any other way to do it besides a lathe? Is there a way to mount the cups to a drill for sanding and polishing?

It is the only headset that will fit the frame. I just can't get over the KING, KING,KING,KING!

How is that the only headset that will fit that frame? That's a pretty standard sized part.

They do the black on black logos, pretty minimal branding.

If you want to buff the ano and logos off, you can certainly do it by hand. It's just going to be slow.

90's steel frame that has chrome and silver Campagnolo parts.

I have a silve Sotto Voce. It may be sutle but I see KING,KING,KING!

I have one of the older headsets that have no logo and the new Gripnut part is different size to older cups. I have tried other options.

Since there is chrome on the frame, why not remove the logos and mirror polish the cups to match? I'd start with 800 grit and move to 1200 and 2000. Or try acetone and start at 1200 grit? Once its sanded smooth you can get to a mirror finish using mother's mag or bullet polish (or simichrome).

If you can put the cups in a lathe or drill head, it would be short work to polish.

How do you mount on drill head?

Think I have it figured out. Threaded stock, 2 washers, 4 nuts and various sandpaper then polish.

I got a silver one of these, and not really happy with it cosmetically. It such a subtle contrast to the Logo from the silver it comes off kinda blotchy to my eye. Wouldn't do it again.

YMMV

Could you post a pic of this? I'm about to have the same issue with headset on old, chrome and polished bike. I'm watching and could benefit seeing a pic of your drill setup. Thanks.

On the threaded stock nut, nut, washer, headset cup, washer, nut, nut.

Tighten nut against each other to keep from loosening. (Like two nuts on headset) put threaded stock in drill and spin o rama!

Like a homemade headset press double nut to keep tight

Well, look for a SuperRecord or NuovoRecord Campagnolo track/pista headset.

34mm stack height. Not that much more $$ than a new King HS..

For right above, DIY HS press..for aluminum cups..pushing on the lip of the cup rather than an insert that pushes against the interior of the cup..'may' break the cup on 'stubborn' headtubes..

It's for holding the cup to spin and polish
