hi supple tire friends.

trying to decide between building some wheels with Pacenti Brevet rims and Velocity Quill.

The Pacenti's are aesthetically more in line with what i have in mine, but have a narrower internal width (19mm vs 21.1mm).

this bike will likely run 650x42 rene herse tires.

what do you guys think?

For alloy I've been running a set of Astral Wanderlust rims and they have been excellent.

Probably important to specify rim vs disc brake here before this takes off

Angry is 100% rim brake.

Which means his choice of 650b is pretty limited. I think the pacenti might be the best choice. Or you could track down some HEDs.

If plenty chainstay real estate go with the wider rims. If 39mm at the 42 widest spot CS or SS, go narrow.

I think I might have a set of HED Belgium+ 32h in my basement in Philly, if interested. Going back this weekend, could check. I ran then disc but I don't remember if they all have a brake track...

If silver, then Brevet
If black, then Quill (HED logos are not removable which is a bit of a deal breaker for me)

yes, should have mentioned, rim brake :)

i'm leaning toward Quill. built up a 700c wheel a while ago and it was pretty nice.

Here's (https://groups.google.com/forum/?nomobile=true#!topic/650b/xgtany5nnQQ)a super long thread that, being familiar with the OP's posting habits, should've beaten every 650b rim brake rim out of that poor dead horse.

A23 Velocity with an offset rear. Hella strong 650b's. Come polished, too.
I've run mine on some pretty rough terrain, including Eroica, nary a whimper.

I'm running the Pacenti Brevets. So too, I believe, are Peter Weigle and Jan Heine. I don't know the Quill.

I’ve gone through a few Velocity A23 OC rear rims. I’ve gotten about 6000 miles out of each before they developed a concave brake track. I’ve ridden all types of wet/sloppy conditions. 650b x 42 or 38 tires.

I recently switched to a Pacenti Brevet rim but don’t have enough data on it.

Both built up and ride fine with tubeless or non tubeless tires.

Velocity w/o doubt..Built more than a few, really great rims.
I know Pacenti is a 'different' company, new owners and all but been bit by them, so, no thanks.

I'd snatch these up in a heartbeat.
