The Bike Price thread had me thinking that with the plethora of meticulous bike builds around here, there are bound to be some equally stunning cars.

I'll start off, heres my 1972 911T. I pulled it out of a barn where it had sat for 10 years and after a mechanical refresh, have been enjoying it. I regularly go back and forth between throwing on some wider fenders and dropping in a 3.6 or just keeping it mostly period correct and enjoying it as is while I find another project. Car has the original engine and trans but its since been rebuilt to 2.7 RS spec.

Hi Kyle, cool car!
The beauty of 911 is that you can update/backdate throughout the product line with relative impunity. With regards to rear flares, I would avoid them since every Targa I have ever seen with them just looks wrong from the proportions standpoint, and will drop the resale value quite a bit, since you have an otherwise relatively correct car. Enjoy the narrower tires and go kart-like handling. Maybe change sways/torsion bars/shock absorbers to make it handle even bette. Putting a 3.6 in it as a mixed bag-less maintenance, but more weight hanging off the back of those rear wheels. Honestly, you can’t do much better than what you’ve done with the car.

Here’s my new not so daily driver: 2008 Tesla Roadster #364. Last week to replace the 2004 Porsche GT3 I sold to a friend of mine. The car is a hoot to drive, and I love the electric propulsion.
Also, Photobombing in the back right is my 1971 911 T/RS clone, with a twin plug MFI 2.7 911S motor with E cams and short-geared LSD trans.

I have always loved Mustangs. Carroll Shelby is the American version of Enzo Ferrari and this car has so much fun inside the hood.

Especially when you do fun things to it and boost the BHP up to 11.

I am not treating this like a garage queen nor am I going to make it a collector, but it stays inside when snow is on the ground.

Boy is it a blast to drive.

Here's a picture of the early model 2014 C7 that I got in October of 2013 and the hot rod that I started building in 2013 and finished in July of 2016. I sold the Corvette almost 2 years ago. It had 5600 miles after 4.5 years. The hot rod has about 6500 on it. I drove it very little last year - may sell it soon.

Some great cars allrdy and i have a feeling theres gonna be quite a few more to come.

I have had this for a couple of years now. I drive it only in the summer and maybe i total at around 1500 km or there abouts. So perhaps a 1/10th of my total miles on the roads is in the car and the rest on the bicycles .)

I love it, in all its quirkiness.
If you get one because its a wonderful car you will likely love it. If you buy it because you want a sportscar you will likely be disappointed
I was originally set on getting a 69-72 911 coupe but those prices just skyrocketed whilst i was searching for one.

I'm happy to, though I think our guidelines say that it's not appropriate to list in the classifieds, so I may look for some guidance from the mods.

In addition to the wheels, the seatbelts are also yellow.:)

Really? Despite the recent drop in prices for 911s?

I haven't been tracking the market -- if I decide to sell it will be due to other factors than maximizing value.

That said, at the risk of appearing to outsource my research to you, what's your summary on the 911 (and in particular 993) market? When I looked about a year ago it seemed like there remained a premium on air-cooled.

thanks

Beautiful rig........love LC's

Thanks, your Mitsubishi is a beast too.

IDK sometimes I feel weird presenting my beat up Toyota among such nice cars, and the people that don't understand the appeal of it REALLY don't understand the appeal of it. I've caught flak from some of my girlfriends' colleagues - which is amusing to me - but I guess some of them have told her they thought it was unsafe ( lol) after having ridden in it for field work (it's completely safe and well maintained).

Thanks. Major, the horse, sold for 100k as a yearling, ran 5x and retired. He was $400 off the track ( I picked him up after he was restarted for 2k). He's just my ring and trail buddy now. Yes, more monthly than the 911, but the 911 has had its moments-ie a 6k trans rebuild.

As to the air cooled market comments, it had to slow, the prices for pedestrian cars were runaway. Good cars still worth good money. The 993 pictured is probably easily a 50-60k car, but I'd swap out the wheels for something more classic in silver or black. Personally, I like the yellow but the marketplace doesn't. Still, a 993 is as good as an air cooled 911 gets.

Nice!

When I was about 15 or so I got to go on a road trip in a 914 from the Seattle area up through BC to Prince George, then across Alberta through Jasper and Banff, then down into Montana through Glacier NP, back across Idaho, and home into Washington. Camped out most of the way and it was a highlight trip. Always thought it would be fun to get a 914 one day just because of that trip.

For you vintage 911 folk.

I used to ride my bike to VW of AM in Englewood Cliffs, NJ when 17. Just to see the 930s first brought in, east coast ones anyway.

One day late during a drool fest bike ride, I touched the door handle of a green one sitting out front by offices after hours, Key and a dealer plate where on/in it.

I got pitch forked in the ear by this little red guy on my shoulder big time...

I had a 1970, dual barrel Weber, no smog, fantastic car. Got hit by criminals fleeing a crime in a stolen car, rolled, not a single piece of glass intact, but I walked away. Loved that car.

Also love a GTV, my father was about to buy one in Italy in 72 but instead found a 64 356SC that he kept for 20 years. A small part of me wishes he bought the Alfa but I think he made the right choice.

When i was a boy in the 70ies, a car magazine had an article about a guy who had found a short tail 917 on a scrapyard and made it roadlegal (which is no fun here in germany, he had to get paperwork for the tires, the windscreen, etc etc...).

http://www.i-t-d.net/Porsche_917/917-Strasse/Grossmann_917_12.jpg

It was sold later in the classifieds and apparently has been built back to race spec since.

My not-so-daily is a 2014 Westfield Mega S2000 that I assembled and extensively modified in my garage. It's built to be a barely street legal SCCA Solo car and it has about 13,000 miles on it now and over 50 FTD titles. It's powered by a modified Honda S2000 engine and weighs 1225 lbs in race trim. So fun.

Once I was coming over Malibu Canyon, right behind a 3.0CS in that stock BMW orange (Inka?). I always thought it looked good on a 2002, not a great fit for the big coupe (which is also a favorite of mine).

All Righty Then. Has a red hood, wife wants the whole car that color. What the wife wants, she gets. Then I get a new bike. ;)

Sold the Prelude VT to get the MG, no comparison in handling or power, but somehow more fun.

I love it! VERY cool with lots of personality. Perfect just the way it is. I've been casually looking for a candidate for a rat rod Midget build. I'd love to find a 72-74 with the small bumpers and round wheel wells.

This is only my second "not driven in winter" car, although I drove it for a couple months one winter until an automotive coworker shamed into garaging it until the salt was gone.

https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VJ9tBJe9SN4/WFCscukEunI/AAAAAAAAJdo/AMbMYzEMrjYMtIcgSXYv7Toe43JPmwafwCLcB/s800/s-l1600%2B%25282%2529.jpg

23k miles when I bought it in 2016, now maybe 28k. Boosted, probably not quite 300 whp. I had to replace the factory wheels because one cracked (4 of 5 spokes cracked through). Car was never ironed out after boosting (turbo went on 500 mi before I bought it) so I've been making little changes as time goes by. Heat is by far the biggest problem.

Sponsored an open source app developer so I could flash a replacement ECU (pin fried on original one, and ECU was not flash-able privately). Took 2 years for app to get released and me to figure out how to do it but it's good now.

Hm, reminds me, I have to do emissions again soon since I only got a 1 year respite due to being so late.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I too would like to hear why a Tesla Model 3 is less exciting than a BMW. I don't own a Model 3, but I have driven them and find it to be far superior to a BMW, and I previously owned one for 24 years! The car is low and handles like it is on rails, just like a BMW.

The only things I can think of is the BMW with its ICE engine makes more noise (Varooom!) or the Model 3 might not be as fun to drive since you can't get a stick shift since it only has a 1 speed transmission.

But as far as performance, the Model 3 Performance (M3P) may be the best bang for the bucks on the market! The M3P numbers are like
0-60 in 3.2 seconds
1/4 mile in about 11.5 seconds
and the miles per gallon equivalent (mpge) is like 121! The best a BMW can do is what 30-35mpg?
Best of all, the M3P is priced around $70k! You will be hard press to find any car with those numbers for twice the price!

Good Luck!

Thanks, man!

The hair is a little lower/shorter these days! It's the angle of the photo that makes me seem a bit to tall for the car. I was also sitting upright for the photo. When driving, I sink into the seat.

Side note: The 67 is a low windshield model. From 68 to 72 the windshield was taller and the dashboard was padded. Reviewers slammed the change in the appearance of the car. Something along the lines of "meant for a giraffe."

Then the 240Z came out and that was it for the roadster.

The car from this angle looks complete and possibly straight. What's a little rust?? ;) This was the high windshield 2000 produced from '69 on.

If it were a 67.5 low windshield 2000, even in that state, you would have been smart to grab it as they are very very rare and sought after. A '69 to '72 2000 in driving condition is perfectly affordable and lots of fun.

Thanks. The wheels are a modern interpretation of those found one the delta integrale.

My goal was a period wheel design but a modern size and fitment. Options were fairly limited without going full custom. These are custom offset and center bore only. Fitment ended up perfect. Zero rubbing and I didn’t have to modify the fender in any way.

A bit random, but it is a RHD Japanese market car.
