Losing an awful lot of my musical heroes lately. If you are a fan of the
Pat Metheny group, you know Lyle. I’ve been fortunate enough to see them a few times and he was a phenomenal talent. Very saddened to hear this.

Bummer another one gone to soon :( RIP Lyle. Saw Pat Metheny Group on the First Circle tour ~1984 in NYC when I was a teenager, and still play Offramp record once in a blue moon.

Too young. Saw him with PMG in, what-mid 80's? With all the hype about Jaco (mostly deserved) one could forget he was also on Joni Mitchel's Shadows and Light line up, which was groundbreaking on several levels.

The PMG came to Burlington often enough. Never missed a show, and what a show. Just remarkable synergy, and there was total buy-in on the part of the audience. It was magical. RIP Lyle Mays.

I was probably there right with you, CV. Sad news. I love the music PMG made when Lyle was with them. Play those CDs all the time. RIP.

Listened to "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita Falls" today in his memory.
