Hello,

My son trains indoors with a Computrainer and would like to begin using Zwift. He thought he could use Apple TV to do this but we are finding that might not be possible (after buying said ATV). Does anyone know of a work around? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Did you get an Apple TV 4th gen?

Here's one video on it.

Zwift How To with Computrainer:

However, I don't believe a coputrainer can be connected to a new AppleTV in the way outlined below because it does not transmit any ANT+ signals in the air.

Here is someone showing how to hook up a computer to a computrainer and run zwift- Looks like a few cables/adapters are needed because no ANT+. Ouch.

Background if your Computrainer did transmit ANT+:
The AppleTV can only receive Bluetooth signal.
If the Computrainer can transmit power/controllable resistance via ANT+ you will need to get a ANT+/Bluetooth bridge like this from Cable.

It will convert the ANT+ signals into 1 channel of bluetooth and you can then sync your sensors to the apple TV.

I see your setup being something like this.
ANT+ Signals Coming In:
Power (Computrainer)
Controllable Resistance (Computrainer)
Speed (Computrainer) or separate sensor if you have it
Cadence (If you have it)
HRM (if you have it

Outgoing Bluetooth Signal to Apple TV:
1 channel will contain all those signals from above.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately we don't have a laptop he's able to use for this. We thought Apple TV would be the least expensive option, but it looks like we didn't do enough research before purchasing.

sorry about the computrainer...but just pick him up a wheel on smart trainer on from any of the various companies for a few hundred bucks...they work just fine ...be cheaper than all those complicated cable fixes I bet...and it will work fine with apple tv...

Thanks ... we were hoping to not have to outlay a bunch of money. Maybe spring will come early. ;)
