I'm trying to install a GRX crankset: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/grx-11-speed/FC-RX600-1.html

on a Twin Six Standard Rando frame: https://www.twinsix.com/products/standard-rando-frameset-red

that's been fitted with a Wheel Mfg PF30 to Shimano BB adapter:https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-brackets/pf30-outboard/pressfit-30-to-outboard-bottom-bracket-for-24mm-cranks-shimano-black.html

However, it looks like the GRX spindle is too long: https://photos.app.goo.gl/FHxApPPR9pMuaTfa7

Any tips? Do I need to buy some kind of spacer for this? If so what kind, and how do I make sure I don't mess up the chainline?

Thanks!

Are you sure you have the correct BB (PF30-OUT)? Did you buy it from Wheels Manufacturing? I have one in my hands right now, and it looks like what's in the website, but not like what's in your picture.

I agree, the NDS cup on your bike doesn't look as wide as the one on the website.

Also, I presume you've tightened the preload screw on the NDS crankarm? That takes up a few mm of the length of the spindle as it is tightened.

Well, I sent the photo to Wheels Mfg and this was their reply:

"From the photos it looks like that bottom bracket is actually a PF30A bottom bracket which is only for Cannondale PF30A frames. It will not work in any other frame. The proper bottom bracket you will need is a PF30-Outboard for standard PF30 frames."

Shoot! I bought the frame used and the BB came installed. Seller must have purchased the wrong one. It seems well-installed though, and has been loctited. Are spacers an option or should I just replace it?

Skinny NDS cup makes me think PF30A bottom bracket

Looks like that could be the wheels mfg PF30A adapter BB, rather than a normal PF30

Edit: just to specify, its the wheels mfg one.

You're going to be best off in the long run with the correct BB installed, rather than trying to source spacers or some other bandaid solution.

It's a waste of money to remove it. While the bb is incorrect. It's correct in terms of the 24mm interface. Which is all that matters. Nothing bad is going to happen to the spindle if you keep using it. The narrow width of the cups allows you to adjust the chainline more so it has some advantage. Spacers will be absolutely fine. Cranks like Sram22 PF30 for example use similar spacers. But it will take some experimentation in the size needed. Use small 2mm spacers stacked so you can adjust the chainline to where you want. Then fine tune the preload with more 0.5mm plastic shims or rubber o'rings. Search for bottom bracket spacer sets. Any will work.
