My PRO torque wrench crapped out on me, I didn’t know it was a “house brand” rebadged Wiggle. I settled on the Wera. Anybody have one? https://products.wera.de/en/innovations_and_autumn_winter_campaign_2019_2020_b icycle_set_torque_1.html

It’s possible I could have misread, but page down to the Pro. Re-branded is definitely the key term. If you search lifeline bike tools they come up. https://www.bikeradar.com/features/the-best-cycling-torque-wrenches/

I have the Wera bicycle tool set with the torque wrench (2.5-25 N-m). It's great and adjusts in 0.1 N-m increments. It's very nice.

In hindsight one thing I would consider is just buying the torque wrench and then buying the bits you need. I tend to prefer the longer bits the bicycle set includes a 5 mm and 6mm, but I also wound up getting the 5 bit set of longer bits (it includes, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 mm).

I would also pick up a Wera Zyklop ratchet. Both the all metal (more traditional ratchet) and the one with the fancy head on it are well made.

For me, I used this as an opportunity to update a lot of my tools since Wera is almost exclusively 1/4" drive for the tool sizes commonly used on bikes. I had a mixed set of 3/8" drive prior to this, but having a matched tool set of high quality tools is a nice improvement.

One more recommendation from Wera: that pistol grip torque wrench (3 Nm to 6 Nm).

I'm a fan of CDI torque wrenches. They are owned by Snap-On and make the S-O wrenches.

Those are all excellent points and i did consider everything you mentioned. I chose the "Bicycle" package because Amazon had it for $265 and delivered in 2 days. All of the other options made it too expensive. At one point I was a heavy equipment / diesel rebuild mechanic, so I have a considerable amount of hand tools. I also have all of the long hex sockets from Snap On, I just have to use a 3/8-1/4 adapter.

That torque wrench set is not a square drive - its a hex drive. the bits fit into the drive. FWIW.

Yup, if you’re using it for multiple jobs it’s probably not the best but it’s relegated to just bike maintenance for me.

+1 on CDI torque wrenches.

I have larger CDI's. The 1/4" in what I wanted was 300+

I own a PB Swiss Torque driver set (https://www.shop.pbtools.us/PB-8320-DigiTorque-Digital-Torque-Screwdrivers-Sets_c140.htm), and while it's pricey, it's a world-class tool. I use it on just about every small screw on a bike. I have a few other PB Swiss tools and love them all—if you are a tool snob, these things satisfy a massive buzz.

I couldn't find info on the bits included. are the bits standard so that any multi-bit set can work?
thx,

Yup, standard 1/4" drive bits, and PB Swiss makes some of the most beautiful driver bits on the planet.

Those only top out at 5 NM - so, not really that handy? Plus, I was thinking how to get 12 NM out of a screw driver?

Yes, screwdriver handle torque drivers are for small screws where a 1/4" or 3/8" drive ratchet would not have the fine tuning to be that accurate. Mine was originally used on race-built R/C cars but it has since been brought over to the bike shop in my basement for small fasteners.

For anything above 5 Nm (about 3.5 lb/ft) on a bike, I'm using a Snap-On 1/4" drive torque wrench in ratchet form.

PB also has a 10-80 Nm (7-60 lb/ft) driver set, as well.

I have a effeto mariposa pro. It was expensive but man is it nice. I had the cdi before and it was fantastic for the price. The wera looks amazing too.

I got the CDI torque wrench in the ¼" size on eBay and had it calibrated for less than $100.

The CDI includes nice bits including a 4 inch long T25 bit which simplifies torqueing current generation Campy brake hood clamps.
