been pumping forever but with tubed tires on tubeless-ready rims think CO2 could be a lifesaver when dealing with flats in the middle of bumphuk.

for 32mm Conti 5000 tires are 12 gram cartridges enough to inflate to 80 psi or should i buy 16 gram ones?

in the garage yesterday i had to pump to 120 psi to get the bead to snap into place in one 3 inch spot on the tire.

I'd definitely go with 16 in your case. At worst, you won't need it all.

12gram is nice since you can get those CHEAP in the ammo section of walmart etc BUT it will not be enough for your needs. go with the 16g and make sure you practice in your garage or carry two in case you have a field gaffe.

I carry a second tube as well since i have frozen the valve stem and had it tear off the tube once. This is not an issue of course if you are tubeless.

I've always used 12g with 23C tires, gets them to about 80-85 lbs. With larger tires, definitely go 16g unless you want just enough to limp home on.

Definitely 16g. I have occasionally had inflations, even with them, that don't fully seat a 25 or 28, but it's rare. I buy a box of 30 16g threaded for around $30 every few years.

16g. and I like the microflate nano...keep one in every bike's bag. just remember to keep your gloves on to avoid frostbite.

almost no advantage to 12g other than cartridge size.

I like the 25g ones from lezyne.

Yes, they're big (also filling up 650x48mm tires)

But I bought a valve that adjusts the air flow, and can be shut off completely, allowing me to use a partially emptied cartridge the next time around.

Less waste, which I already am a bit conscious of with them.

I also carry a pump, so unless it's cold / dark / raining / in a rush / need to reseat the bead / etc ...

I just use that and save the cartridges.

I had an earlier version of this valve, probably the best one I've used. A quick email to PDW got an O ring mailed to me at no charge after it somehow escaped. Then one day, after neglecting to close my saddle bag, the valve fell out and when I found it, it had been run over at least a few times by something much larger than a bicycle. Sadly, it is now unusable. This reminds me I should get another.
