Fun & easy MTB/Gravel even to do with my 15 yr old

My son has discovered MTB (Yea!) & I want to do an event with him that would be fun but not too hard. Criteria:
- Something we can do together
- Not really looking for a competitive event
- Not technical ( I bought him an entry level $500 hardtail)
- Not overly long
- Something relatively close to VB.

Suggestions?

There’s an MTB event this fall at Bryce Resort in Basye that might fit the bill.
