Well. The theme of weekly photo contest I sometimes participate in was “shadows” and with the light this am couldn’t resist this shot. Unfortunately I hit a big bump on the bike path seconds after and got stopped by the fence you can see in the shadow. Bike is tweaked and I’m a bit bruised, but feel like I got off lucky. I took an Uber home and will try and lay low as I lick my wounds. I’m pretty sure I would’ve maintained control of I had both hands on the bars. I was going only about 10 mph at the time of the crash - had I been going faster I would have cruised over the bump....if my phone was in my pocket where it belonged!!!

It’ll be worth it if I win the weekly challenge! (Kidding)

OUCH!

Here's one without the crash.

Hope you have a swift recovery. It's a nice shot though, what with the story behind it: the phone in your hand, the fence in front of the bike... all the ingredients are there for a crash, glad it wasn't any worse.

Thanks for your honesty, and for your self-deprecating humor.

Your accident, unfortunately, is a perfect example of the potential pitfalls of distracted driving (or operating ANY vehicle). Be thankful you didn't injure anyone else.
