Hi all,

A few questions regarding replacement of pads and rotors on a road bike?

1.) At what thickness ( thin-ness ) do you replace the pads?

2.) Do you replace the rotors at the same time? Before? After? Never?

3.) Anything else I need to know about disc brake maintenance- repair or replacement?

Thank you all in advance!

Steve

Shimano spec says that pads should be replaced at 0.5mm.
Replace Shimano rotors at 1.5mm.

Thanks Tommy!

Oooops, should have been more specific:

Swissstop Exotherm 2 pads, SRAM XR rotors ( if this matters )...

I’ve run mine until it was metal on metal. On a mtb. Not a good idea. Ha!

Just bought a gravel bike with disc brakes. Had not a clue on maintenance etc.
Park Tool has an excellent video library on all things disc brakes; view them and you are an instant expert. Chris

Do you think the specs are the same for other manufacturers as well?

Thanks!
