Greetings!

Looking for recommendations on light/ultra weight butyl tubes. What has been everyone’s experience?

Thanks

Chris

Continental Race Light. Good, consistent quality, reasonable resistance to punctures.

I'm using the Schwalbe SV14A ultralight tubes in my 650B Weigle and think they're terrific, and well worth the $6 premium over the SV12 standard tubes.

I use schwalbe sv20s pretty much exclusively. Excellent quality, reasonably priced and less than 70g

Vredestein. I like that they are pre-talc'd and are shrinkwrapped.

Vittoria Ultra Lite. The 51 mm stem is threadless and with a removable core. Right on for me.....

People still use tubes?

:) My road bike still has them. I use continental race light for forever now and they have always been great.

I had been been happy with Michelin Ultra-Lite tubes, but they don't (or at least didn't) have removable valve cores, so I switched to Continental Race Lite tubes, which do have removable valves. Both weigh about 75 grams for size 700x20-25c, and have been equally reliable. Continental also has their Supersonic ultralight tubes where are only about 50g, which is lighter than latex tubes.

Continental Race Light in Veloflex tires. Excellent weight/quality/feel.

For heavier, Mavic standard butyl. These tubes are claimed 80g, actual more like 84-90, but they feel good and last a very long time for my use.

Do the continental race light tubes have threaded or smooth valves?

The internet seems to show me pics of both...

Thank you for all the recommendations. For some context, I’m contemplating getting rim brake carbon clinchers this spring so thinking about the complete package.

I just took a look at my batch of Continental Race Light and Supersonic tubes. For the Race Lights, some have threaded stems, and others are smooth. The Supersonics are all threaded stems.
